In the article before in composition series, we've learn about line, now it's time to discuss about the next element : Pattern.
Understanding Pattern
Simply, pattern can be mean as iteration. Iteration in this case is iteration of shape, line, color, stuff or any object, and the iteration maybe in regular format or just a little bit irregular. The good photographer will use this iteration in a photo, so the result is not only beautiful but also have strong impression for audience.
Where we can find the good pattern for photo?

Pattern is everywhere, even it was made by human or natural such as : banana leaf, onion slash , conch shell, tiger skin, field, high buildings, floor, even on any house you can find the pattern of palate and floor. Good or not of the photo pattern is very subjective to be sure. Shooting the pattern from the front, it could be more good when we shoot from the side. Shooting the pattern on rose , it could be quite boring when you using standard lens and more dramatic using macro lens.
The point is not always open your eyes to detect the pattern that appear everywhere you are. If a secret agent always alert to detect the enemy who masquerade,make sure that your eyes always alert the pattern that might be also masquerade.

Maximize The pattern in Composition
When you've found the interesting pattern, there are two point things that you must do to make the photo more dramatic in photo:

- View Angle of Shot
- Lens Type / Shooting Length
- Make Frame Full of Pattern
View angle of shot take important thing when you shoot the pattern, it might be the rose looks so flat if you shoot from the side and it looks more good if you shoot from the up. For example , play with some angle to find which is the best
The pattern that appears when you slash the onion, of course it looks very flat when you shot from far length, but when you use macro lens, ans shoot from very close length, it will be looks great
Yes, there's no other way to make pattern more dramatic besides make frame full of pattern. With the frame full of pattern , there's no disturbing element , so the pattern is look ore strong and dramatic.
