Simply ISO Concept

The definition of ISO is the size of level of sensitivity of camera censor toward light. More high the ISO setting , more sensitive the camera censor toward light.
To get the clear description about ISO in our camera ( ASA in film photography case), let’s imagine about bee community.
  •   An ISO is a worker bee. If  we set the camera ISO in 100, it means we have 100 workers bee.
  • And if we set the camera ISO in 200 , it means we have 200 worker bee.
The duty each worker bee is pick the light that come through camera lens and make picture. If we use identical lens and  camera aperture  that both we set in f/3.5, but i set ISO in 200 meanwhile you have 100 ( imagine about wroker bee), so which one the picture that will  done fastest?

              ISO 200                            ISO 400                           ISO 800                           ISO 1600

The outlines:

  • When we add the ISO setting from 100 to 200 (in aperture that always stable- we lock the aperture in f/3.5 or through Aperture Priority Mode- A or Av), to shorten the times  in a half times ( twice more fast), from shutter speed 1/125 to 1/250  seconds.
  • When we add again the ISO to 400, we can shorten the times of making picture untill an half again :1/500 seconds
  • Every times shorten the times of exposure in an half, we called increase the exposure  in the amount of 1 Stop.
You can try this explanation in aperture case, always try to set the fixed shutter speed in 1/125 ( or through Shutter Priority mode-S or Tv), and changes ISO setting in multiole 2 ; example from 100 t0 200 to 400 , and etc, take a look the changes of number of your Aperture
