Digital Camera modes - Program Mode

Program Mode - On DSLR or others digital camera, Program mode usually simbolyzed by P letter. In this mode, we can choose ISO and camera will determine the value of aperture and shutter speed. The different between Program mode and Auto mode is when we use program mode we have control in camera, meanwhile in auto mode, the camera will taking controll all setting.


Shift Program
         In program mode, we can subtitute the value of aperture and shutter speed that determined with  Shift Program. Just rotating the command dial in back of camera to change the value of aperture and shutter speed. When we want depth of field more narrow, you can rotate the command dial to change value of aperture. Check the ways to use shift mode on your own camera. In canon EOS 60D, you can use the shift program with pressing the shutter an half then rotate dial button on back.

Program Mode is ISO Priority
       Program mode also named as ISO Priority. We can choose the ISO and camera will determine the others parameter. Remember, the exposure triangle including ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture. In this case, it means that camera determine shutter speed and aperture. In this mode , we have to turn on the flash manually by photographer.

When we use the Program Mode?
     Program mode at this moment can be used for standard photoshoot that you meet in daily. Standard in this case, it means that photo subject with lighting condition that relatively simple, like the photoshoot situation bellow:

The type of photo above is easy to be handled by program mode. Camera will determine the shutter speed which is fast enough to avoid blurred photos and we also no need to sue dept of field which is not too extreme. When we don’t like setting that was choosen by camera, use Shift Program to change it. Or just enough to raise the number of ISO, and  camera will choose the small aperture automatically.
