In Photography , we often read and hear about word “Stop”. No, isn't stop like what you think, it’s not stop that mean stop to move. Word “stop" in this case meanings the term in photography. For example using of  word “stop” : “ because the photo looks too over, just lower one stop” , just like that.

If until this moment, the word "stop" in photography still make you confuse, let see this short explanation bellow.

Definition of Stop
More or less Stop in photography  meanings the changes  of the number of  lights  that received by censor/ film, so it will influence  photo exposure. Increase one stop meanings more bright multiple by 2 , increase  2 stops meanings more bright  4 times from basic exposure.  Drecreasing one stop meanings darken multiple by an half (1/2). One stop is the changes of number of lights multiple by 2.

Such as you know commonl exposure is the number of  lights that received by censor . And Increase one stop meanings increase exposure in multiple by 2. How to   increase and decrease exposureproperly?  We can  change just one   or combination of three element that arrange the exposure triangle, they are: Shutter speed, Aperture, and ISO.

Still confused? Allright, for example  inside room there are 4 lamps each 100 watt and they are turning on. Because Stop is the change of dark and bright, then lower one stop ,it means that you must turn off two lamps , therefore only two lamps are turning on. Meanwhile, to increase one stop meaning you must take 4 lamps more with the number of same watt and turn on that all lamps. In this case, the room is censor in digital camera ,meanwhile the light of lamp is the exposure.
Stop and Shutter Speed
Shutter speed measures how long censor receiving the lights. More long shutter speed, it means that more lights that censor received ( increasing exposure). In shutter speed, full one stop is easy to remember because its result of division from numeral 2 ( with integration) : 1, ½, ¼, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, & etc. Move one stop meanings jump once, for example from 1/30 to 1/125. Move 2 stops meaning jump twice.
Stop and ISO
Easy things in ISO, multiple by 2 meanings increase one stop. ISO 100 to ISO 200 meanings one stop, 200 to 400, and etc. If someone ask you how many stop from 1100 to 1600, so How many stops ? yes there are 4 stops.
Stop and Aperture
       It more difficult in aperture because the numer jumping randomly: f/1, f/1.4, f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16 and etc.
What the relation of them ( Sperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO)
For example if you using formely setting of camera like this : 1/125, f/8 and ISO 100. Because the photo result is under exposure (dark), if you wanna increase one stop it can be means  3 things :
1/60, f/8, and ISO 100 ( only shutter that changes),  or
1/125, f/5.6,and ISO 100 (only aperture that changes), or
1/125, f/8, and ISO 200 ( just ISO that changes)
All changes meaning one stop.
